Aligning and Standardizing Courses
The Institute for Clinical Research Education has a series of courses taught by teams of instructors, often changing year-to-year. To help instructor’s prepare for courses more efficiently, I developed instructor guides containing everything that the current instructor does during the course as well as all the materials they use. To create one instructor guideline, I attended classes and took notes about everything that happened and how long instructors spent on each activity. I also collected copies of all handouts, quizzes, and activities. Each instructor guide follows a consistent format for each class session, including identifying learning objectives, planned activities, logistics (time, required materials, etc.), and what is expected of students and instructors before the class session begins.
