One part of Glencairn Museum’s mission is to support the study of “the spiritual history of the human race” as described in the theological works of Emanuel Swedenborg, an 18th century scientist, philosopher and theologian. Those who study Swedenborg’s unique philosophy of ancient history face the problem that his descriptions are scattered throughout dozens of works written by him during his theological period. The primary goal of the lexicon is to collect all of the scattered references to epochs he called the “Most Ancient Church” and “Ancient Church” and to summarize the major concepts relating to the subject. This resource is of great benefit to those who study Swedenborg’s religion and philosophy.
